Billy Goat

2nd Highest point in Suffolk

This monument was paid for by the grateful folk of Derry in (Northern) Ireland in recognition of their esteem for the Bishop of Derry who was also the Marquis of Bristol and lived in Suffolk.
OK so far?
After it was erected it transpired that the good Bishop was absent a lot and also extracted a "living" of £20,000 a year ( a couple of mill in today's money) from Derry to fund his extravagant lifestyle in Suffolk.
Perhaps that's why you have to flog out along muddy lanes to get to it and there's only one little information board.
