ABORIGINAL PAINTINGS......

..... just 30 minutes drive from Penrith through the Glenbrook National reserve lies an amazing piece of history!

Today, a friend from our Prostate Support Group and I ventured to experience this Aboriginal painting in a small cave first found by white settlers in the early 1900's but dating back it is thought somewhere between 500 to 1,600 years back. It is called Red Hands Cave due as you see by the Aboriginals mixing red ochre soil and water, putting this mix in their mouths and spraying out over their hands placed on the walls of the cave.

You need as mentioned on the national Parks site to Allow yourself to be mesmerised by the layers of hand prints and stencils in Red Hands Cave; one of the best examples of Aboriginal art in the Blue Mountains.

Whilst there I checked out this lookout over the mighty Nepean River! Will be making sure at some point to get in here for a sunrise shot. As you can see the M4 motorway bridge first then the Victoria Bridge down stream further. This of course features in many of my Blips!

Enjoy, this piece of our local history and have a look in LARGE.
