The call of the open (winter) road.
Forty mile road ride today. It may have been a foggy 4'C, but the roads were quiet, and the hedgerows quieter still. I like winter for that. You may have to don a few more layers and pack a Snickers bar to keep the fire within stoked, but it seems the madding summer crowds have long since fled indoors till the spring. I find myself drawing breath, contemplating both the year that's been, and the one to come. And most importantly of all, whether to have one toffee waffle cake with my brew when I get in. Or two!
