Kelvin President and Vice President..

This afternoon I attended a governance seminar in Glasgow regarding the new arrangements for the college sector in Glasgow. I am glad to say that also attending was the President of the Student Association of Glasgow Kelvin College, Andrew Aitken, pictured here on the right. Andrew sits on the high level regional board under the chairmanship of Henry Mcleish.

Following the seminar we went back to Glasgow Kelvin where I met his colleague Eire Hawthorn the Vice President for Learning and Teaching. They both had work to do in the evening, before Andrew attended with myself a formal Board Dinner which finished around 10pm.

These young, bright and hugely committed students are vitally important for the reformed college sector, with student bodies having a greatly enhanced status under the reforms, and contributing a great deal, not merely at this college but at all colleges in Scotland.
