Bus Challenge No 43!
A complete contrast in weather after yesterday's bright, blue and sunny day. Today was dark and grey and bitterly cold, so once again I headed into Bath to take a second bus up to the American Museum on the outskirts of the city.
"The American Museum takes you on a journey through the history of America, from its early settlers to the twentieth century. With its remarkable collection of folk and decorative arts, the Museum shows the diverse and complex nature of American traditions. The only museum of Americana outside the United States, it was founded to bring American history and cultures to the people of Britain and Europe."
Every Christmas, the museum reopens for three weeks, with each of the period rooms coming to life with decorations that reflect a different theme each year. This Christmas the theme was A Winter's Tale with scenes recreated from popular fiction set in America. The museum is housed in a grand manor house built in 1820, and in the central stairwell stands an enormous Christmas tree. To reflect this year's theme, the tree was decorated with ornaments made from pages of books, and paper chains spelling out Once Upon A Time.
A spot of Christmas shopping was also done, and a delicious sugar and cinnamon Connecticut Snickerdoodle was tasted!!
