Ever wonder what lies beneath the polished painted floors of a public building? Welcome to my department, tucked away in the basement, with the central heating pipes - and main valve. This was taken from underneath (its by the ceiling), and.... lets just say its a bit of an old heating system. In fact I suspect its the original one from the thirties.

But our slightly decrepit department has some advantages. We might have less polish and paintwork, but in winter, we are the warmest place in the building!
