Caught Falling
Just caught this leaf in mid fall....soon there wont be any left on the trees.
Put me in mind of an old poem.....
Fall of the Clowns
Having so gradually knitted myself
Into this intricate safety net
Of gossamer and steel,
Catching and holding and stroking
The whole damn circus for so long,
I have worn thin, and tired,
And angry.
So to get ahead of my own unthreading
I have gashed myself open
And let their shocked and unsuspecting faces fall
Howling and grappling away.
They have landed safely nonetheless.
But I am left,
Unmended and torn ugly.
For fear of unravelling
I have undone myself
And am gaping, silently
Into my own darkness.
