A bit of peace

It's another shot from my Summer School today. I've got them to bring props in and we're shooting against a white background with four lights today as they were using a black background with only 1 light and a reflector the other day. This shot was taken while the kids were all packing up for lunch. They are a great bunch but it's good to get a wee break as teaching kids is way more demanding than teaching adults.

Some of you may have noticed that this morning I changed yesterday's blip for one that was a fair bit more dramatic. I would have changed it last night but we ddn't get home until about one o'clock after going to see the Pet Shop Boys revisited show last night (we got comps.) Revisited as what you might ask... Bad show tunes is the answer. It really was a struggle to last through it. I spent the first ten or so minutes wishing they would play a track that I knew, then it dawned on me that I really didn't want them to play anything I knew. Everyone involved in it was clearly very talented but it just didn't work as show tunes.

I thought the fact that the music was being done by a string quartet and a grand piano might make for a good show unfortunately not. It may have worked better as straight covers of the songs but not in the format it was in. I guess I had my expectations set too high by The Balanescu Quartet (ignore the content of the video just listen to the music that starts about one minute forty five in), and Jeff Mills' collaboration with the Montpellier Philharmonic and here's another example.
