Asparagus: a Plant For Many Seasons

It's decorative and functional--if you miss picking the spears in the spring, you get lovely feathery stalks trimmed with bright red berries in the winter. It is winter now, right? There was no telling about the weather today--heavy showers and stretches of calm alternated with harsh wind. Even a few minutes of sun when we managed to jump down to the somewhat sodden Farmers' Market to pick up some stuff for dinner.
