Newcastle life

Northumberland Street at dusk

Its only 4'Oclock and its dark already.
The Christmas lights are up and Northumberland Street is packed with shoppers.
Northumberland Street is very interesting, lots of different styles of buildings. I remember my grandpa telling me about when he was a child visiting Boots the chemist, which would have been to the right of this picture (I am not sure exactly which shop it was but I think it was number 45) He would go there to visit because it was the first shop to have an escalator in Newcastle. The escalator was made of wood and it was something very special in those days . He said that then Boots was actually a chemist then rather than the shop it is today that sells everything. Apparently that Boots closed sometime in the 70s and has been long forgotten as the only Boots that the rest of my family can remember is the one inside Eldon Square. I would love to find an old photograph but google doesn't bring me any.

I finally left my nanna's house today. She told me that my grandpa would have wanted me to go to university still. I went and sat through lectures. Its too early to go back to work. A hospice is not a good place to work when bereaved yourself.
