Back in the Water
7.0C with a frosty start then lots of sunny sunshine. Zephyr.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch. We went up by the church and down the field with the bridle path to the shore. I had thought the bridle path would be frozen or at least firm underfoot but no such luck. There was a layer of mud.
In the little field between the cycle path and the level crossing there are some sheep. Today there was also a huge railway maintenance machine. It looked rather incongruous sitting on the path with the sheep grazing nearby.
We went over the level crossing and down to the beach. The tide was on the way out. We wandered along the sand to the fishermen's huts at Westhaven and, as you can see, Silver Cat is back in the water and moored in the channel through the rocks.
When we came up off the beach Maeve's paws were a good deal cleaner than they were at the bottom of the field and my walking shoes were a bit better. On the way back up the road we both made good use of the water pouring out of the field and onto the road to make sure there were clean paws and clean shoes for our arrival back home.
