Charentais barn
A view over our neighbour's long barn, a traditional building in the same style as our house. It's now used for storing equipment and machinery, as well as a flock of about 20 sheep in winter.
The farmer is quite elderly now but luckily his energetic son-in-law has taken over much of the work... and there's a lot to look after! In addition to sheep, they have several vineyards scattered around and small fields which are used for winter wheat, barley and sunflowers. This mixed agriculture attracts a lot of birds and gives us something to admire in every season.
Behind their barn you can just see the fermette which is used as a holiday home these days.
