"Hello - I'd like to buy a gram-o-phone please"

I have an older portable audio player. This is my 1920 HMV horned gramophone complete with a picture of 'Nipper' on the front. Sorting out my old hifi speakers gave me a fit of guilt so I got the old gramophone down to give it a polish and it came up lovely.

I would say they don;t make them like this any more, but you can buy modern replicas that play 'modern' vinyl records. But they are probably made in chine and last about as long as the batteries!

P.s. I fitted a noise reduction system to reduce crackle (not seen here). A towel draped over the horn filters out some of the sharpest high range crackles.
