Catherine Lacey: BoyStory

The 1st birthday girl

There were so many I could have posted here today but chose this because of its absolute joy and because I wish I was in the pic, not my gorgeous and talented great friend and fellow photographer Jennifer. SOOC.

Here are 10 ish other goodies (I also kinda liked the TRex eating the birthday cake that I took pains to get just right). "It's not a dinosaur, it's a TRex" brother Jaxon Aged 3 corrected me.

In these pics from today I was utterly in love with how Georgie and Mama Jennifer were so coordinated, like two glasses of fine claret. I used natural California light and most of these unless you see some obvious PSE in mono, are SOOC. Trust the light: it sends you the most beautiful magic.

Today we celebrated her daughter Georgie's 1st birthday, exactly one year after the amazing honour of photographing Georgie's birth gore spared as she did my c-section with Callum.

Jennifer hadn't used the Nifty 50 before so the shots you see me in are J using my camera. We always have such fun photographing each other, laughing all the way through when we point for point our Canons.

Jennifer has been a Godsend of a great friend on so many occasions since I met her at a baby signing class when our boys were infants. Although unplanned for both of us, having each of us at the births made it all the more fun and gave each of us an incredible photographic journal of the events of Callum's and Georgie's births. She's doted on Reuben, helped suction his trach right from the start, babysat a screaming Callum during hospital days for us with Reu, ever been the deliverer of comfort foods during trying times and just been the best friend I could hope to have so far from home in LA.

Reuben was in awe of Jennifer's giant gold fish and Callum laughed his head off at the TRex and golden doggy April. What a gorgeous, gorgeous day!

And if you really want something to do this evening, check out the Main Slideshow.
