The hills of Luss
We were up early this morning to enjoy our breakfast before checking out. I managed to fit in a quick swim before we departed as well, the pool in the hotel was so lovely I couldn't resist! After saying goodbye to Cameron House our next port of call was Balloch and the visitor information to see what we could get up to for the afternoon. We decided to head up to Luss on the side of Loch Lomond for some low level hiking and it was then that I took this photo.
Luss is a conservation village, the result of the local laird building cottages for the workers in the slate quarries and mills in the area. Apparently a lot of the slate roofs on tenement buildings in Glasgow were quarried around Luss. The path we were on when I took the photo is called the Quarry path and there are many places where you can see the beautiful blue/green slate. It was a wonderful picturesque walk and I had many photos to choose from, I liked the autumnal colours in this shot.
Late afternoon and we were on the road back to Kinross where we spent the night again as we were in no hurry to get back to Edinburgh, a leisurely but productive day!
