Surveying the damage

I was inside reading my book this afternoon, when I heard this almighty "crash"! We thought there had been a car accident outside our house, but no, thank goodness.

From our house we looked around the farm, and noticed this huge tree had fallen down. The funny thing was there wasn't any wind at the time - it was fine and still.

We went and surveyed the damage. Unfortunately the tree had fallen on one of our fences, ripping the wires off the posts. Here Farmerboy and Son T (in amongst the branches) are trying to see if any of the fence posts are snapped. From what they can see, they aren't, but they won't fully know until the tree has been removed.

So that's tomorrow's day sorted. Sawing up the branches and removing the trunk so the fence can be fixed, and the power to the rest of the farm turned back on.

Last day of Spring today. Let's hope that summer tomorrow will be the start of some warm, fine weather.
