The Tide

I went to Crail Pottery today. Crail is part of the East Neuk of Fife, an area of the coast of Fife comprising several fishing villages. I always love visiting that part of Scotland.

The image was captured at Cellardyke. Some of the older village houses back on to the beach and a resident started chatting. He couldn't understand why I was taking photographs in the dark (it was only 4.30pm!) and I explained the knack of obtaining a long exposure.

The sea was rough and noisy, something which the image doesn't really suggest, but it was also very calming. As I watched the incoming tide gradually creep up the beach, I tried various camera angles and settings.
