Snow birds

Our first snow of the season arrived overnight. It was a light dusting but it is cold enough for it to stay. Our climate in British Columbia is much milder than the rest of Canada but even so many Canadians head off to warmer climes in the winter - hence their nickname: snowbirds.

While I can see the appeal of getting away for the warmth, I rather like the snow. In BC, at least here on Salt Spring Island, snow is an infrequent and generally short lived visitor, so it never outstays it's welcome.
