ODEON

The friezes over the entrance to this derelict cinema - opened in 1936 and closed in 1982 as a cinema, although it was a bar and club after that for a few years. It's Grade II listed, but sadly just being left to rot. I love these carvings, so full of energy, but I can't find out any more about them. I've cheated and cut out the space between them which was originally where the vertical cinema banner was fixed, now removed after it threatened to collapse a couple of years ago.

Worth looking large.
