Philip Hughes

Cricket is my game and even here in Shetland I played for a number of years mainly indoors. The reason I gave it up was that I was having difficulty seeing the ball and was worried about being hit on the head.

Sadly the danger of the what a cricket ball can do to you came horribly to the fore this week. Watching the injury to Philip Hughes you could tell that it was serious but nobody watching thought that he would die as a result.

A worldwide tribute to him was to put your cricket bat against your door, fence etc so I dug out the old bat that hasn't been used for a number of years and placed it at the front door.
