Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Seattle

Our annual trek to Seattle for the Westlake Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was met with much resistance this year, coming in the form of heavy rain and hate-filled protesters. Still not enough to keep us from our tradition, we sought cover inside with a visit to our favorite, Santa, (Santa Doug), a little sale shopping and lots of time to eat, drink and be MERRY! Alex and I took a whirl on the carousel and I've never laughed so hard watching him whip his horse the entire time we were on the ride. I used to have to ride along because he was scared, but I realized today that I'm still buying a ticket because I enjoy it so much. The lighting ceremony tonight was sadly cut short (really before it even started) due to the level of danger the horrible protesters presented to everyone and especially our children. They still lit the tree, the Macy's star and the fireworks for the kiddos to watch in awe but had to forego all the other planned events due to the unsafe conditions. Ignorant people walked around talking about how they couldn't wait to see what the tear gas did to all the 'Yuppies'' children. So wrong. We walked away feeling uneasy and unsafe and had to have a conversation with our 6 year old that we thought we'd be able to avoid for a few more years. We were able to enjoy an awesome dinner with our family which actually felt better than ever. More from the day.

Got my stitches removed this morning and I'm told I'm healing quite well.
