Casting Shadows Over Sleepers

Today has been long and exhausting. In the morning we headed out to meet elderly family members B has never met before. After visiting, we went to a small and practically ancient graveyard where a great deal of B's family and ancestors are buried.

Our journey out here wasn't purely for Thanksgiving and an early Christmas. It was also about B learning where he comes from. I went through a similar experience ten years ago, but B and I had just started dating and he wasn't able to be there.

I think B and I may have to do this with all of our family sides. (Except my father's side, which I truly don't care about.) A journey that will take us around the country and even around the world. It will take both of us to Ireland and England. My family will take us to Germany, and his will take us to Japan.

It was a very emotional morning that left us exhausted.

Then we ate.

Then visited with a cousin that's come to visit with B's mom before.

Now we're watching the extended version of Desolation of Smaug. I am happily snockered and I both believe and hope that sleep will be good tonight.
