Spain in London and a kindly gentleman

A wander round Chelsea and Westminster this morning after the glitz and excess of the Times Higher Education Awards last evening. We didn't win and neither did any of the other Scottish universities shortlisted. It was a grand night though.

Today's blip caused more trouble than usual. On stopping at the Spanish Embassy, a man appeared immediately by my side. Expensively dressed, quietly spoken and wanting to know what I was up to with my camera

After exchange of a few words he kindly acquiesced allowing me to take the shot. Perhaps it was my babbling about visiting Spain earlier this year. He mentioned he had visited Scotland too and had greatly enjoyed it.

We shook hands and wished each other well. I headed off, reminded of how securitised London is behind the old buildings and net curtains.
