Closing In

The day of the big race! I took the morning off work to watch Arthur run but I thought I might not make it as I felt so ill when I woke up. Thankfully, by 0900 I was feeling a bit more human. I'm so glad I could make it because Arthur came in second place, just four seconds behind the winner. Arthur has vowed to train harder - he really did very little training for this race - so that next year he will be sure to win. I hope so because that will be his last chance at this school and he can't leave without winning at least one race, especially as Valerie won three years consecutively, making her the only child to ever have consecutive wins in the school's one hundred year history. All I can say is, "Go for it, Arthur!"
