Proud new Dad!

It's been a sombre day today. We have been coming to terms with losing one of our countries much loved cricketers, Phil Hughes. This sporting tragedy has touched our nation and many thousands of people around the world. It was so moving to see on the news tonight that cricket fans around the world are placing their cricket bats in windows and parks, in fact a multitude of places as a tribute to the young sportsman - such a powerful and poignant gesture.

CCN and I were at Westmead Private Hospital this afternoon and we decided to have a cup of tea in the cafe - come waiting area. It's a light filled atrium with a very imposing sculpture as a centre piece. Quite a lovely place to relax for a while.

Westmead Private has a maternity ward and we were delighted to see a young father and his daughter sitting opposite from us and they were looking after a beautiful little baby born 3 days ago. I was a bit naughty and did take a sneaky image of Dad having a short snooze. I wonder how much sleep he will get in the coming months!

I couldn't publish the blip without making a full and frank confession and I'm happy to say the proud Dad kindly let me take a photo of the three of them. I promised to send Prem a link to my blip as soon as I publish it.

In the midst of the sorrow we were rejoicing and celebrating a new born baby, perhaps he'll play cricket for Australia himself one day.
