Thursday: Under Construction
Well, we had a most busy day today. So, in order:
We went out into town for a hearty German breakfast which was followed by running a few errands. We then went to a photo exhibition showing photos of the Joint Headquarters in Rheindahlen (for readers not so familiar: this is where the British Army in Germany had its headquarters. It finally closed down last year). Mum worked there for many years and its closure has left a big mark here. The photos were very poignant.
From there we went to the Christmas market (via the dermatologist) where mulled wine was consumed. A wander round the shops and then dinner in a little Italian restaurant. And then the final event of the day was joining Mum at her book club which was very interesting.
The town where Mum lives has pretty much had the centre pulled down and there are now massive building works going on. This building will dominate when it's finished.
