Mask
Home after dark and wandering around the house looking for something to take a photo of, I found this tiny pottery tragi-comedy mask. It was made by a very old friend of my mother's, someone I've known all my life. She used to make her own glazes from various natural materials, and would produce a never-ending stream of small creative things to test them on... this was one of them. Just a little thing she thought she'd try her glazes out on before risking them on a proper pot.
I loved this mask sculpture when I first saw it, and asked if I could have it. It's been a treasured possession ever since. Must be over 30 years ago now.
The orchids are there for scale, and effect. But mostly scale :0)
