Chillington Hall

This lovely piece of plasterwork is taken from the ceiling in the prize-winning refurbishment of Chillington Hall, Staffordshire (actually very close to Wolverhampton but because it isn't a National Trust property, isn't very well known)

The archer and the inscription refer to the tale of the panther, loose in the neighbourhood and about to attack a woman and child. No words of Christian or any other wisdom for this family - Take a deep breath and shoot firmly...... and that means that this hall can be used for civil ceremonies of any denomination. Wedding Venue is the prime earner for this stately home

It's a grand house, the third on this same site, and with lovely parkland (not visible in the mist and gloom today) and an amazing lake (which we couldn't see because it was quite a way from the house and unbelievably muddy)

This was a NADFAS visit. Great fun. Lovely coffee - and then a super C*** meal at The Four Alls to follow.

Forget the gloom, this was a great day out
