Honolulu, Hawaii
Honolulu, Hawaii -- We had a fabulous day today, visiting with old college friends who live on this beautiful island of Oahu. My goodness, did they ever give us a fabulous tour! We started out with a fascinating visit to Honolulu's Chinatown and it's markets. Our friends bought us two beautiful leis there. We also walked through an amazing fresh fish market, and a produce market. Then we were driven along the coast, over the mountains for some spectacular views of the stunningly blue ocean, surf, and gorgeous green rainforest. A delicious shoreside lunch, and then on to the Pearl Harbor Museum. Sadly, even though we had tickets to see the Arizona Memorial, there were signs posted all over the place stating that it was "too windy" to take the shuttle boat out there. It wasn't very windy at all! I suspect the National Park Service employees wanted to get home early to stuff their turkeys ... Onward to more amazing scenery up, up, up into the green, jungly mountains, where we visited an offshoot of the Honolulu Museum of Art, and then to our friends' beautiful home overlooking Honolulu and Diamond Head. This is their view.
