Manu

I hate trains, I really do, but today was a special trip. A young guy in front of me was playing his guitar and singing rather beautifully. I'm so accustomed to unpleasantries on my commute that it was such a lovely change. I sat listening for a long time thinking maybe I'll get his contact details and arrange a shoot in future but in the end I found the courage to actually take his photo right then and there, without asking. I had a chat to his friends while he continued to play, they were all lovely but not the type of people I would normally talk to - all part of what I've taken on recently in doing things that I normally wouldn't.

I met with local photojournalist Dean Saffron and his sports photographer mate Chris Munro. It was absolutely brilliant talking to them and I learnt a lot about what photography meant to them as professionals and also what it means to me. I shared some prints but also gave Dean my camera so he could see the shots of Manu on the train. He suggested I crop it like I have above which I would have never thought to do. I find it interesting, certainly not the way Manu probably would like it, but it highlights the point of how his music which was so marvelous to me is so everyday for his friend Beau asleep next to him.
