Hill top - centre of the world
We had just finished a bird Survey on the Oriole walkway (and saw 3 Orioles - the national bird of Montserrat) and came out at the Hill Top cafe. Perth was 11,459 miles away, but we enjoyed the photo at the signpost being touristy for a change.
We were also looking forward to a comfortable ride back to Salem in a bus rather than the bone shaking time in the "Beast" which is our affectionate name for the Coral Cay Land Rover. It lacks low range, a horn (essential in Montserrat) and 4WD but it runs and that's a major plus point here!
Lots more rain today - we did a bird pointy in the morning (which is when one of the Science staff takes you around and points out species) which was interesting. We have to learn 75 bird species (including females) for the surveys and that is only the start as most of the time you can only hear them. The Pearly Eyed Thrasher has the most bewildering variety of calls...
