which country?
Scotland of course. This shot was taken at Crianlarich station on what was probably the best train journey ofmy life today, from Glasgow to Spean Bridge in the most glorious weather. Together with my friend, the gardener, we travelled (courtesy of Scotrail's fantastic Club55 £15 return fare) along the Clyde, up by Faslane, the Trident base, to where the train begins to climb past the Arrochar Alps and towards Glencoe and then across Rannoch Moor. Views from the window memorable and uncapturable, such a brilliant day. Fortunately the train has what i always think of as a 'fag stop' at Crianlarich when you get the chance to get off and stretch your legs hence this shot.
My sister from the south and our mutual and good friend Anne met us at Spean Bridge and we headed for Anne's home in Invergarry where she has been battling the subzero temperatures all winter. It has not been easy. Weeks of night temperatures up to 18 degrees below zero. The gardener and I caught a couple of hours of informal ceilidhing in Fort Augustus, a feis was on there that weekend, and then we were back in Invergarry comparing notes on tattie growing with Anne's brother Ian who has wee croft nearby. Always lovely to be in the Highlands and as the gardener has a temporary knee problem which is keeping him off the bike and the hill he was extremely happy to be up there enjoying the mountains at a distance. And I enjoyed introducing him to the family too!
