An old companion.

This shrub has been in the garden forever. Since well before we moved here 34 years ago. It is such a familiar presence that I never paid it close attention before I got my camera. I never even knew what it's name was. A blipper called Himself educated me on that one.
It is a Fatsia Japonica. Fatsi is the Japanese word for eight, but I can't quite make out that connection. It may have something to do with the leaves.
This is one of the pom poms. It is about an inch and a half in diameter now but grows to over four inches in huge clusters. They turn pink, purple, and black over the course of the year.
Like all evergreens it has its mini autumn when it sheds its old leaves and grows new ones simultaneously. That's when the pom poms appear again. I quite like them at this stage of growth.

Here's another thing I wanted to throw out for discussion.
I rarely make typing mistakes, but one I make very often is to type shat instead of shot. I could understand typing an i instead of an o 'cos they're beside each other but a and o are on opposite ends of the keyboard, for Pete's sake.
I don't understand it, but it happens so often that there must be some subliminal reason.
I'd appreciate your thoughts and experiences of typos.
