Christchurch Cathedral

Christchurch actually suffered from two earthquakes the first happening the previous year. The stained glass window of Christchurch Cathedral survived this first shake and they put up this metal structure to protect it from further harm.

Unfortunately in the second shake this acted as a battering ram not only destroying the window but also a large section of the Cathedral.

The plans are to tear the rest of the Cathedral down as it's structurally unsound and build a new Cathedral on the site. It seems a shame to lose such a beautiful building though.
