Times Of My Life

November Sunday

Sunday.

I decided we needed to take the dog for a good long walk today, where he could be off lead. I can't ever take him out without the lead, as he simply ignores every command I give him. It's not fair to him or to me, as I get really pee'd off that we can't go anywhere without me either dragging him, or him dragging me.

I don't know why Rocky simply will not do anything I tell him, but he won't. And if I took the lead off him, I'd be scared that he would chase sheep or simply ignore my commands, and take off on his own.

So, I had to persuade G to come with us on a walk this morning, round the village and through the public footpath which goes by this derelict wee cottage. For some reason, (sheer perversity I suspect) Rocky will do anything G tells him to. So off we went, down the Highland Road, along a public footpath, up the side of a field, and past this wee house which was in habitation only 30 years ago.

The sky was blue, there was still frost on the grass where the sun had not yet penetrated. Geese flew overhead, making their way back here from colder climes. It was very muddy underfoot.

I enjoyed our walk, but it made me feel that proper winter is not very far away.

I hate winter with a passion. I hate the frost, and the cold, and the snow; I hate the ice which makes the road from our house down to the main road like a bobsleith track, and I hate the fact that every trip out of the house requires the kitchen floor to be washed on return.

After our walk, G and I headed into town to choose some glasses for him as he has just been given a prescription for reading glasses. Perth High Street was full of clowns and jugglers, and there was a Chocolate Festival going on in King Edward Street.

The shopping centre had a Santa's Grotto going full swing. Carols were playing, and the whole town centre is now geared to the 25th December and it's hellish connotations.

For God's sake! It is still only November!!!!
