Dunbar Lifeboat

It was an easy six mile walk in the late autumn sunshine from White Sands Bay to Torness and back this beautiful sunny afternoon. Behind us came a steady hum from the nuclear power station where one of its two reactors had been shut down for safety reasons on Friday but I’m sure that the solar power panels that we had passed on the cliff top nearby would not cope with the loss of electricity! Just offshore we watched hundreds of seabirds and a small fishing boat going to and fro while the Dunbar Lifeboat bobbed gently in the shelter of the dolos breakwater at Torness. The gleaming white Barns Ness lighthouse and Bass Rock stood out against the distant Fife coast on the horizon. A good day to be out provided one had warm jackets, hats and gloves.
