Astonishing concert by the 80 year old South African on an unamplified piano in the Hall one at the Sage Gateshead. He started without a word and playing for around 50 minutes without a pause then took some sustained applause before playing for a further 20-25 minutes. Some wonderful melodies. It was like an updating of a highclass cinema pianist but without a film. Just didn't need one!
