A Brave Attempt By The Sun

From the crack of dawn (and probably earlier), until mid-afternoon, it was overcast and raining ... Sometimes it would be raining whilst overcast, but to be honest it was difficult to tell the difference ...
And then, not an hour before sunset, it stopped raining ...
It actually remained overcast, with the clouds still dominating the sky to a minimum of at least seven octas - (I love the word "octa", even if my spell-check doesn't recognise it and most people haven't got a clue what I'm talking about) - but there was enough gaps in the grey to allow a few patches of sunlight to show through ... :o)
