Short Walks - 2 . Countesswells forest
Been a nice bright day and managed to make the most of it with a walk at Countesswells Forest. Its a well know spot just outside the city - quite popular with dog walkers and muddy folk on mountain bikes .
They've been cutting down some of the trees and improved the trails since we were last here - which makes it a little less muddy and gloomy than it used to be . There are a variety of trails but we did the red route which is 3 miles and takes just over an hour . You get a good view west towards Westhill, the Hill of Fare , and Deeside - with Lochnagar being visible today . Unfortunately in a few years this view will be spoilt by the new bypass which when built will run just west of the forest. Still some colour in the forest today though and a nice walk .
