A Houlie
Backblipped 23/11/14
After the reason for last nights lateness we were slightly late for the 5 am start for the sunrise (oops, but only 15 minutes).
No panic though as the weather again wasn't really playing the sunrise game, although there were some colour in the sky at times......plenty of pictures taken, as the wind continued to blow a gale making it unpleasant although not terribly cold. From there were continued along the station tracks to the Rangitata River with the idea of trying some LE photography. But, as my blip shows, the norwest rain came hurtling down the valley in a horizontal position. We didn't linger to long as the lenses were getting splattered with raindrops.
Back for a very late breakfast or smoko (whatever spins the wheels), we lit the fire and cruised for a while. ( I think thats what we did, I'm so tired my memory has faded).
After lunch Clare & I had organised two of the shepherds to meet us at the woolshed with their dogs....this they did and we spent an hour with them doing rural portraiture inside and outside the woolshed. They were just great and we really appreciated what they did, certainly outside their comfort zone.
Our men cooked an incredible bbq for us all which we appreciated and enjoyed.
The wind had changed direction to a southerly and a very cold one late in the afternoon, no change for any sunset photography....the light was just awful.
An earlier night....alarm set for 4.45 am!!!!!
