Real Silver
A while back my wife discovered this old coin on the side of the road and picked it up as one would expect.
It has been stowed away and forgotten about until in our downsizing exercise it was rediscovered.
A quick clean up revealed a coin with almost full silver content. The 1937 Silver One Crown equivalent to five shilling sterling in the pre decimal era.
Unfortunately because of the high silver level in these coins they are sought after not so much by collectors, but those who wish to melt them down for the silver value.
Did you know it's illegal to mar, deface or destroy a coin bearing the image of the reigning Monarch of the time?
