Opals

One close up as promised! I love the fire colours in the dark opals. Had a very interesting workshop on close up and macro photography using a variety of light sources. This brooch and earrings were made from opals given to me by a cousin who lived in Australia. It was difficult to get the light right to bring out the colours, get most in focus, and avoid excessive reflection. The little paperweight was a challenge too - the picture is in the bottom and the many facets create numerous part images. I was determined to get the whole picture and the caption. The lighting for the crystal was normal room lighting - the brooch and earrings were lit by a large light-box.
