A Cornishman.
Very much a man of Cornwall, William Golding (later Sir) taught English at Bishops Wordsworth`s, just two hundred yards from the Cathedral. He moved back to his home county after his `Lord of the Flies` was published. Died there in June `93, but wanted to be buried alongside the Ebble river. Wish was carried out at Bowerchalke church.
