Long Lens
Went along to Glasgow Green at lunchtime to practice using the 2nd hand 70-300 lens off eBay.
I had hoped for a shag (snigger) standing on the weir, as I'd seen some a few days ago They would have been a good subject for the lens as they're not a bird it's easy to get close to on the river. However, they weren't around, so here's the geese.
For 20 quid I can't complain, and it's good practice with a fairly large lens - heavy enough to render a Gorillapod useless, although it doesn't have a tripod mount. Given the lightness and small size of the E-620, it's a bit of a culture shock.
I either need glasses or more practice with the manual focussing though, as I always seem to be a wee bit out. Most of the shots of swans, with nice reflections on the river, aren't sharp but it's not a consistent problem of the older lens with the newer camera - other shots were nicely sharp. My eyesight isn't great generally, which certainly doesn't help. Autofocus has kept that nicely hidden up to now!
