Day 6 of the Leak
Today we finally found the leak.
It was not under the house.
We ended up adding a bunch of cut off valves today to really identify where the leak was. We narrowed it down the garden pipe section, the bit that I had spent a few days searching.
The problem was that we were not finding any water anywhere. You'd think 1000 gallons per day would be easy to find. And normally I think it would have been.
So anyway, once we had identified it was the pipe in the garden, we dug out every inch of the pipe. And there it was. The leak.
Directly in a section of pipe that had been laid over a gravel bed (the original drain field for the septic system). The gravel bed had soaked up every last drop of that water, so no wonder we could never find anything. Fixed the leak for maybe $12.
Covered up everything (trenches etc) and then a different tenant tells us about their blocked drains......
Looks like we're digging more trenches and holes tomorrow....
