The Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. 5* ?

5 miles. Down the hill from the Phil and it's not far to the Adelphi, just around the corner from Central Station. The Adelphi was once Liverpool's most prestigious hotel. It has been overtaken by several others and featured in a real life Faulty Towers TV series. We went once for cocktails on a friend's birthday. The bar contained several men in suits a little worse for wear, but our friend was asked to leave because he was wearing trainers. The Adelphi used to face 2 of the city's biggest departmental stores, Lewis' and Blacklers - both now closed. The city's shopping centre has been moved to Liverpool One and streets now owned by the Grosvenors.

That marks the end of my bike ride to town. Time to do something else! Thanks for looking in and for your comments.
