Derelict Thursday - Building Site

From the centre of our village there is a steep road called Almshouse Hill which leads up to the 'top' part of the village. It is actually blocked to vehicles half way up.

There is a plot of land near the bottom that has been 'being developed' for many years. The road comes up the on the left of the shot makes a sharp turn to the left (from where this shot is taken) and then carries on up to the right of the shot!

A few years ago there was a chain link fence across the site (where you can see the hoardings on the left in this image) and you could sort of see what was going on. They appear to have done the groundwork and dug out part of the hillside and started to put block walls up - but then there seemed to be some sort of collapse of the walls. Work stopped!

The local Parish council forced the owner to put up the hoardings to hide the eyesore and it has lain like this for years.

There appear to be several planning applications and refusals for the site - but I can't work out quite what the current state of affairs is.
