Falls of Dochart

Today's the day ........................ for a mountain trail

Yesterday it was the town. Today we were in the country - the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve near Loch Tay in Perthshire.

We were following the Edramucky Trail on the lower slopes of Ben Lawers, which at 3984 ft (1214 m) is the highest mountain in Tayside. It's an area famous for its distinctive flora - and even though this is at its best in the spring and early summer - there were still plenty of interesting things to see.

We're staying in the village of Killin. It has two rivers flowing through it - the Dochart and the Lochay - which eventually end up in Loch Tay. This is the fast-flowing Dochart with its dramatic waterfalls, from the bridge at one end of the village .....................
