Skimmer

I parked on Island #1 of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to look at gulls and cormorants on the rocks. Suddenly this little fellow landed right beside me! I've never seen a Black Skimmer on the CBBT before. He must have stopped for a rest on his way to Central America.

What a remarkable bill! The lower mandible is longer than the upper.
