the waterline
i am often more fascinated by how parts meet rather than by the individual parts themselves. my eye is drawn to layering. the line of overlap is typically begins the composition for me. how's that for artsy talk?
i went out today to blip a meeting of parts that does not involve layering. perhaps this qualifies. the photo is of a float. the upper portion of the photograph spent the summer above water, while the lower portion below. i like the textures and colors of the two. they are of the same material but with very different patinas. perhaps more interesting to me is the line between the two. i'm assuming it is some sort of dried element, salt? i'm not sure why or how it formed, but i find it interesting.
a line drawn by nature - the waterline. something to ponder.
